24. Digital Creations and Legal Responsibilities
This video hones in on the legal aspects cutting across the digital creation framework with the aim of ensuring digital creators, no matter what their context, do not expose themselves to legal consequences.
To immunise against this eventuality, Dr Emma Pauncefort offers up three simple rules, amply explored through case studies: 1) Remember everything has a creator (this is the golden rule); 2) Remember that not all content is created and published equal, with Creative Commons and US trademark laws offered as two contrasting examples, and 3) Remember our responsibility to check and triple-check the conditions placed on content we might re-use. This checklist is offered as a sure means of creating as netizens.
