Webinar Series on Emerging Technologies

3CL News, Webinar
Blockchain Webinar #1

Over the next weeks, we are partnering with the Commonwealth of Learning (COL) to deliver a series of webinars on emerging technologies and education. Three of the webinars focus on blockchain in education and a further webinar introduces game-based learning. The topics are well-aligned with the research carried out in our EU funded DEL4ALL project which focuses on how learning can be digitally enhanced.

We start the series with blockchain expert and academic Dr Joshua Ellul from the University of Malta on Tuesday, June 30 at 17:00 Central European Time.

Registration for the webinar is free and available here.

While blockchain technology presents immense opportunities for education, there is widespread misinformation and a lack of understanding of what it is and the benefits and threats it brings to the transition into a digitized society.

Panelist Dr Joshua Ellul notes: “Blockchain, Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT), and Smart Contracts have received extensive attention from media, industry, governments and academia over the past years. Many are touting it as the start of the next industrial revolution. Many are still at a loss in understanding what these keywords will mean to them. In this session Blockchain, DLTs and Smart Contracts will be demystified and a number of use cases for blockchain will be introduced.”

During this introductory session, you will learn about the basics and applications of:

  • Blockchain technologies
  • Digital learning technologies
  • Smart contracts
  • Cryptocurrencies
