Joanne Orlando

Joanne Orlando

Dr Joanne Orlando (PhD) is an international leader in children’s digital lifestyles. Her work focuses on children’s own understanding and interpretations of their digital life. She applies this understanding to new directions for education, parenting, online safety, and children’s social online lifestyles. Her aim is to ensure technology is an empowering part of children’s lives.

Joanne works closely with key technology industry (Apple, Google, Norton), government bodies and Education industry, shaping policy development and conducting professional learning. She is a well-known leader of public debate and has an outstanding international media profile. She regularly presents on TV and publishes articles in high impact media across the globe including The Economist, Channel News Asia, and Washington Post. She also has her own regular national column in Australia’s leading newspaper- Sydney Morning Herald.

Joanne is an international keynote speaking on topics including digital childhoods, digital innovation, digital leadership, online safety, and ethics and technology. Joanne works globally in particular, in United Arab Emirates, Asia, USA and Australia.

Joanne is founder of TechClever Education, providing resources for students and adults that support digital well-being. Joanne is based at the Western Sydney University Australia, and her extensive research underpins all her work.
