The 3CL Foundation Strategic Plan 2024-2025: Our Course for Transformative EdTech Innovation
Our Strategic Plan for 2024-2025 is a comprehensive blueprint that outlines our mission, vision, goals, strategies, and programs for the immediate future. Rooted in the principles of collaboration, innovation, and lifelong learning, the Plan sets the framework for our continued efforts to harness the potential of EdTech to create positive change in education and society.
1) Situation & PESTLE Analysis
Our understanding of the current EdTech landscape is based on several years of applied research, praxis, and advocacy. The plan includes a Situation & PESTLE Analysis that identify key opportunities and challenges in the evolving EdTech ecosystem.
2) Vision and Mission
Our vision is bold: to transform EdTech innovation ecosystems into collaborative and lifelong knowledge hubs. Guided by this vision, our mission is to leverage critical communications and connected learning to drive innovation in education and facilitate digital literacy practices.
3) Goals
Our vision and mission are underpinned by three interlinked goals:
- Goal 1: Understand the impact of disruptive technologies on education & society
- Goal 2: Improve quality & relevance of digital learning
- Goal 3: Address technology-enabled inequalities in society
4) Strategies
To achieve these goals, we have developed three strategic pillars:
- Strategy 1: Conduct action research
- Strategy 2: Establish and maintain international communities of practice
- Strategy 3: Advocate for lifelong learning & digital literacies
5) Programmes
Our strategies are translated into action through three interconnected Programme Clusters, each comprising a set of projects designed to drive meaningful change:
Programme Cluster 1: Digital Literacies
- Project 1: Young people & information
- Project 2: Generations, technology and life beyond education institutions
- Project 3: AI and personal learning pathways
- Project 4: Digital literacies toolkit for teachers & trainers
Programme Cluster 2: Lifelong Learning & EdTech
- Project 5: Women in EdTech in small states
- Project 6: Connected learning in Commonwealth small states
- Project 7: A 3CL academic online journal
Programme Cluster 3: Verifiable Credentials & Self-Sovereignty for Learners
- Project 8: Digital credentials for Europe (DC4EU)
- Project 9: EBSI & verifiable credentialing in Canada
- Project 10: Verifiable microcredentials & workforce development
Embedding the Vision: A Framework for Action
Dr. Alex Grech, Executive Director of the 3CL Foundation, said that the Plan was anchored in a reality check based on the lessons of the past. “The Strategic Plan is the framework for all of our operations, including projects where we collaborate with partners. We will revisit and fine-tune our plan in two-year cycles. Much is changing in the EdTech world and we need to ensure that we continue to add value to our stakeholders. We will use proprietary communication channels and appropriate media for meaningful engagement with the target stakeholders and continue to invest in cost-effective content production and technical infrastructure. The majority of our outputs are in formats that may be streamed and/or shared online, such as blog posts, podcasts, videos, conferences, and workshops. Wherever possible, we use peer networks and third-party communication channels. We will continue with our policy of sharing content online as a public good under an appropriate Creative Commons licence.”
