Governments have an important role to play in advocating for the responsible use of social media and leading in the digital space by example. The U.S. government promotes digital literacy and fact-checking from embassies around the world, proactively addressing and exposing disinformation and propaganda. American voices are also pushing the envelope and challenging the limits of our creativity and receptiveness. We have a responsibility to deliver fact-based reporting on world events that can be delivered in real-time to even the most vulnerable populations.
